Bubbles

This was a project I was thinking of for a long time. the setup is pretty straight forward.; set an iPad on the floor with some gradient colours on screen and set the brightness to max. Place a glass dish of water above the iPad and when the water has settled add some dishwashing soap to the water.

Next place your camera on a tripod above the water, gently blow the water with a straw to create bubble patterns. Change the gradient colours as you go doe different effects.

I found a larger bowl was better as it meant that the bubbles didn’t drift to eth side as fast. Focus may be difficult in low light so either manually focus or keep the room lights up. you’ll need a fast shutter speed to freeze the bubble motion, alternatively you’ll need to wait until they stop moving. A macro lens would be ideal if you have one and use a wireless trigger or the camera self timer to avoid camera shake.
